The session will discuss the management of an infant exposed perinatally to both HIV and tuberculosis (TB). The following issues will be reviewed: risks of BCG vaccination for HIV-infected infants, the effect of isoniazid preventive therapy on BCG efficacy, recommendations for chemotherapeutic management of the TB-exposed infant, and recent World Health Organization
recommendations regarding use of BCG in HIV-infected infants.
